| What do you guys use for filtration???? I wanna go bare bottom no with no rocks and just a sump with a skimmer for filtration.... Can it be done or do I have to have live rock??? | |

| same here.. I want to be able to use my prop tank for a QT also, so that means no rock or sand for the AEFW to hide.. | |

| I use a few pieces of LR, but not too many. I think that the bacteria sooner or later will grow on the egg crate and glass/acrylic, but to help stablize a new clean system, I would add some LR | |

| thank you mark..... i plan on filling the tank with water from my display.... i will put a few in the sump i guess then i will remove them down the road..... is it hard to keep stable with out rock??? like ph wise and cal/alk etc??? | |

| I do not worry about PH and never have. As for stability, that has more about consumption vs addition more than about the presence of LR or not | |

| I'm thinking about getting brightwells zeolite stones and run them in a reactor and dose mb7 and vodka like I do on my display... I'm thinking the stones might do well and I wouldn't need live rock... Hmmmmm.. I will get it cycled with Rock and then play... Lol | |

| Why not just run the LR in the sump and after the systems starts to stablize start removing small amounts at a time until the system is stable without it. | |

| I personally hate live rock because it is detrius trap IMO... I'm gonna do what you suggested roc and then try to run it as a quarantine tank real simple just a skimmer and lights... lol | |
